Help me get an iMac! August 22, 2007

Posted by sdpurtill in : Apple , 1 comment so far

I’m saving all my money up right now to move to San Francisco, so I’m sort of low on the expendable cash side of things… So, I’ve decided to start a campaign to raise money for an iMac through this new site called PeerDreams, a website by my friends over at MonVia.

A new iMac for Sam!

I will write thank you notes to every single one of you that donates… Thanks!

I helped build the Flash application that you see on the site, so always a good feeling when something like that goes live :-).

Also… that post I promised two weeks ago regarding what I am doing for this year is still coming. I have to finish up the legal work before I say anything.

In transition right now August 8, 2007

I am making a big decision on what to do the next year/few years, and will be writing a post once these plans are solidified in the next 1-2 weeks. Until then, just finishing up my final freelance jobs and getting over being sick for the last 5 weeks.

The announcement will affect the future of ClassOwl as well. When better opportunities arise, sometimes it is a good thing to just let go. It will be hard, but what I am about to be a part of is going to be a crazy fun ride, I really can’t wait.

Amazon just announced something HUGE August 3, 2007

I just got an email from Amazon that announced their Flexible Payments Service, or FPS. Now my blog can have a new meaning, 31 flexible payments service, cause I’m going to be testing out the service really soon here. It’s over on Scobleizer already (beat me to it). This is really something huge, because there isn’t a service out there that can compete with what Amazon is doing.

Taken from the FPS details page on Amazon:

Pricing

There are no minimum fees and no start-up charges to use Amazon FPS. In addition, use of the Amazon FPS Sandbox is free of charge.

Goes on to talk about the pricing, and they have a great scheme so far. I think that makes it beat Google Checkout, PayPal, and Authorize.net.

Amazon really understands how the tech world works; when it comes to meetings, the developers are the one who have the most say as to what payment gateway is going to be used. In this case, it is going to add tons of money to Amazon’s bottom line, which should propel their stock in the 4th quarter or 1st quarter of next year.

Amazon has just become THE place for developers of internet applications. Good job Amazon, you’ve got some really smart people working in your organization. I will be testing it out very soon.

Gran Turismo 5 is going to be the greatest game of all time August 1, 2007

I’m getting the PS3 just so I can play Gran Turismo 5. And GTA IV is coming out soon for it too, so it’ll make my money worth it with just those two games. How am I going to have any time to do work once these two games come out!?
