Still down

The T60 is still down; some problem with Windows not finding the hard drive anymore. Plus IBM makes all their hardware proprietary so I can't connect the hard drive to an external case and take the info off on another computer. I'm in a horrible position. I hate computers... Hahaha, what am I saying.

Well I'm planning on launching a little site today for a $4mm house, it should be nice. I'll post a link later today.

My T60 has crashed!

Yes, and I think I set a personal record for the amount of time that I've used Windows without it crashing - 4 months!!! I was just waiting for it to crash... Apparently I deleted the boot.ini file that resides in the C:\ directory. Good stuff. And oh yeah, Microsoft, I don't understand: Why would you make a file that a user can access and delete that has no defaulted backup??? This one file, with four lines of code in it, crashes the whole computer.

Great OS, MS.

And good luck with Steve Ballmer as your new CEO.

Being More Efficient

While freelancing, I've come to find that your schedule is completely up to you. That's obvious. Having a loose schedule isn't always a good thing though; you get to decide if you want to work on a project or go read some news... which I happen fall into a lot :). But today I had a great idea.

Get a watch and set it so you can only get five minutes to do this. Now (this may be a huge leap of faith) DELETE ALL YOUR BOOKMARKS. Start the clock. In five minutes, input every bookmark you feel is most important, or the sites most relevant to you.

Now, go through an entire day and you can only see those sites. No clicking out of them either.

I tried this today. And I feel sooooooooooo efficient! It feels good.

Well, I'm off to a party or something... Peace!

“Access Denied” Debate

I've always found it annoying that our school blocks popular sites like Facebook, Myspace and other websites that kids use quite a bit. I came across a great post today about the whole debate. Here's a snippet of it...

"Here’s another analogy: In the offline world if someone takes so many bathroom breaks that they aren’t getting their work done at an acceptable level you fire that person, you don’t barricade off the bathroom. More broadly, the Internet has changed the nature of work; people can and do work from anywhere at any time. If you want your employees to check their email on the weekends or finish a report at night then a logical tradeoff is allowing them to buy a book from Amazon when they are at the office. If you want a job to become a part of a person’s life then you have to give the person more control over how they fit their job into their life."

New apps coming

I am currently in the process of developing one app and beginning another. Both are great ideas, and the latest one may become a big hit. I just bought the domain name for it on GoDaddy. I'll let you in on it in approximately 3 months. And the former should be running by the 30th of this month; the URL for that one is flist.net
